HSBC Group has around 7,500 offices in 87 countries and territories across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America and around 100 million customers. It is the world’s second-largest banking and financial services group.
Our brief was to develop a global graphics concept for HSBC workplaces to engage staff, reflect Group brand values and establish international design standards.
Working together with GLIMMA Global Image Management, we have developed a strategic and creative concept designed to give a unified look and feel to all HSBC Group workplaces worldwide – Head Offices, Data Centres, Call Centres and General Offices.
A variety of graphic design components – images, shapes, patterns, textures and colours
– work together with the furniture, finishes, materials and interior schemes to create an integrated environment.
The HSBC Group values of openness, connectivity and dependability have determined the content of images and shapes that range across a variety of subjects. Images are given a stylistic treatment to add further interest and the shapes are filled with different patterns and colours to create a special signature style.
The overall result is a distinctive interior look that enhances the workplace and has flexibility to achieve appropriate moods for different types of environments.
The new design standards have been trialled at various office locations in Europe and the Far East and are being rolled out through a detailed manual. Divided into three sections, it explains the rationale for the design and provides a range of images, templates and full specifications with access to technical drawings. This enables a flexible ‘pick-and-mix’ approach, within defined parameters, at a local or regional level.
