


Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd is the third largest chain of supermarkets in the United Kingdom with a share of the UK supermarket sector of 16.5%.
Our brief was to develop a new retail offer for Sainsbury’s, Unilever and Kodak combined
together to be positioned in large Sainsbury’s stores providing customers with a range of convenient services ‘while you’re shopping’.
The challenge was to create a coordinated customer service presentation and, as part of this strategy, to develop the FMCG product brands into credible service brands.
The ‘shop in shop’ concept builds on the equity of each brand to create a unique synergy and added value for the customer. It combines and communicates each individual brand within an effective cohesive customer offer. It also adheres to stringent operational criteria, providing
an efficient, modular and flexible retail system that is able to adapt to a variety of different
site formats.
A fast track design process resulted in successfully achieving development and prototype site criteria and timetables.
