The newly established Syrian Green Building Council, based in Damascus,
is a member of the World Green Building Council, a non-profit body working to transform the global property industry towards sustainability. It already has 100 members and is growing fast.
Syrian architects have been working closely with the environment since early civilisation. Their traditional beehive houses, Jasmine tree-shaded courtyards and wind towers all help to keep buildings cool in the blazing Middle Eastern heat.
In creating the brand identity, we wanted to reflect Syria’s rich architectural heritage. The logo draws on influences from traditional Syrian architecture, in particular the geometric patterns found within the intricate tile work, and the pointed roof tops and arches that naturally suggest the iconic leaf shape, an instantly recognisable icon of green building.
